The values of the U.S.A.

This post is mainly addressed to my brothers and sisters in the U.S.A. who are attending the dismantlement of their society by antagonistic forces, both of which need to be reminded of the principles that created their country -I am not American.

It is said and accepted that the Founding Fathers incarnated, first, the spiritual values of Christianity and, second, the social and political values of Democracy. What is left of all that in your daily life is a question you yourselves must answer in total honesty and objectivity for, I’m afraid, your country is at great danger of imploding, dissolving or disappearing altogether.

You can’t deny you have built a tough future for yourselves in and out of your nation by forgetting the value of culture and letting Hollywood and its monster-movies rule over your spirit. Also, trusting the news just because they made you believe the United States of America were a great nation and considered as such all around the globe was not only naïf but foolish. For many you’ve been, are and will always be their enemy (never mind if now China is more powerful and the Vietnam war ended half a century ago). As a nation, you have failed in your self-appointed mission of bringing peace and progress to your neighbors. You must understand this.

As a society, you also have many failures, which you must also locate and solve: nobody else can, even if we wish we could. In that aspect, your faith in yourselves has blatantly turned against you; made you enemies of each other, as you keep believing you are in your right to destroy your enemy and not just their arguments. There will be only one end to this inside confrontation: chaos.

Whoever considers himself better than his opponent should reflect on the Bible and its teachings, which you have made the basis of your morals. I’m quite bad at quoting the Bible, but I do remember: «Love thy enemy»; «Love your neighbor as you love yourself», and «Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the Earth». So, whether it’s the Republicans hating the Democrats or vice versa, it all seems the same to me: deviation from your own values.

It’s, of course, easier and more comfortable to live with someone who shares your points of view, but life in common in such a big and populated territory as yours is not easy nor comfortable. Peace and true progress are a path to be trodden each and every day with shoes of understanding, patience and tolerance, not with reproaches thrown at the ones you want to make feel guilty of your own unconscious shortcomings.

Not even laws are a reference for good behavior when they are made against the people for the benefit of the law maker. You need to be better than your politicians, for they have lost their mind and sacred serving purpose.

My friend from Austin, Texas, tells me his country will be destroyed in ten years. He feels it. I hope he’s wrong, for I was in Austin in 2000 and I loved the place. I never met any Americans either that didn’t like my country -Spain, Europe- and appreciate my culture. They are kind, sincere and happy folks. They deserve a good future for their nation.
